Distinctive Nature of the Church

The design of this study is to show the distinctive nature of the Church.  Ed will guide you through the New Testament teaching concerning the foundation, organization, purpose, and worship of the Church.

 

LEVEL 2 REQUIREMENTS

Memory Work:  16 verses.

     (due at mid-term) Mt. 16:18-20; Eph. 4:4-6; Jn. 4:23,24.

     (due at final exam) Ac. 2:38; 22:16; Mk. 16:15,16; Rom. 6:1-4.

LEVEL 3 REQUIREMENTS

Reading:  3 books with a 2-page evaluation on each

     The Church of Christ by Ed Wharton.

     Re-Evaluation of the Eldership by Dayton Keesee.

     The Deacon and His Work by James Bales.

Papers:  2 research papers

     One 5-page paper on “the Lord’s Supper.”

     One 5-page paper on “music in the church.”

Memory work:  34 verses.

     (due at mid-term) Ac. 20:28; Eph. 3:10,11; 4:4-6; 1:22,23; Jn. 17:20,21; Mk. 16:15,16;

          Mt. 28:18-20.

     (due at final exam) Ac. 2:38; 22:16; Col. 3:16,17; Eph. 5:19; Jer. 31:31-34; Jn. 4:23,24;

          Isa. 28:16; Psa. 118:22; Rom. 6:1-5,17-18.

Grading Scale:

     Reading & evaluation papers = 5%

     Papers =10%

     Memory Work = 10%

     Mid-term and Final Exam = 75%
